ABOUT MMCAA

Background

Mandela Model Creative Arts Academy is a performing arts institution that is based in Mthatha, Eastern Cape.
The purpose of this institution is to promote and preserve South African Arts and Culture in its broadest sense.
It is also to expose the talents of performers in different stages through instruction, workshop and practice. The ultimate goal is to assist our young people in defining their identities through their exposure to Arts and Culture  and take pride in their culture as the basis of their engagement with the world.

Mandela Model Creative Arts Academy targets young people between the ages of 12-18 years, both in the formal school system and outside of it.
It gives young people between these age ranges the opportunity to spend their after-school hours, weekends and holidays productively learning creative arts.

Being part of Mandela Model Creative Arts Academy broadens the minds of young people and adds value in their learning and knowledge acquisition process.
Performing arts stimulates their minds in many creative ways.
The new generation of African artists are establishing new heights on the continent, therefore they need an essentialist outlook to their performance as competitive advantage in the global market. Also, arts and culture has a strong healing tradition, a benefit performers will enjoy in their increasingly complex world.
